The annual Lake Buchanan Regatta and Dam Jam are held each April. Dozens of boats participate in the regatta and live music is performed by artists coming to Lake Buchanan from over 1,000 miles to participate in the event.
  
Other interesting events include the Texas Indian Hobbyist Association PowWow in Burnet, the Bluebonnet Trails Arts and Crafts Festival, the 24th Annual Burnet Bluebonnet Festival and others. You'll also want to visit the Fall Creek Vineyards, a 65-acre estate winery on the northwest shore of Lake Buchanan; the Inks Dam National Fish Hatchery and the Hill Country Flyer, a train that makes regular weekend runs from Cedar Park to Burnet.
  
Area colleges and universities include Central Texas College, the University of Texas at Austin, Austin Community College, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Southwest Texas State University and Temple College.

Nearby hospitals and medical centers include Seton Highland Lakes, Llano Memorial Healthcare System
and Rollins Brook Community.
